‘Agar Hua Toh, Why Not’: Mohammad Amir Eyes IPL Contract In 2026; Video

Former Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir has set his sights on getting an IPL contract ahead of the 2026 edition. Amir, who was part of Pakistan’s title-winning squad in 2009 T20 World Cup and 2017 Champions Trophy, said he will surely play in the lucrative competition if given an opportunity.

With the retired cricketer’s wife Narjis being a citizen of the United Kingdom, Amir is also hoping to get a British passport, making him eligible to participate in the IPL. Since the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008, Pakistan players haven’t played in the IPL following the terror attack in Mumbai in 2008.

Speaking during the show Haarna Mana Hai, the 32-year-old claimed:

“Next year tak meri opportunity ban rahi agar hua to kyu nahi [By next year, I will have the opportunity to play in the IPL and if given the chance then why not]. I will play in the IPL.”

Mohammad Amir performed decently in the ILT20 2025

The veteran fast bowler played for the Desert Vipers in the ILT20 edition of 2025 and picked up 14 wickets in 11 matches at 23.14. However, they fell short in the final as the Dubai Capitals chased a stiff target of 190 by making a stunning comeback.

Amir last played for Pakistan during the T20 World Cup last year where the Men in Green were eliminated in the group stage itself after losing to USA and India.
