Mumbai: A shocking case of attempted sexual abuse of a 15-year-old boy by an 80-year-old man has emerged from a mosque within the jurisdiction of Sir J.J. Marg police station. The accused, who is responsible for calling out the Azaan at the mosque, allegedly misbehaved with the boy on two separate days.
The 15-year-old victim regularly visited the mosque for Quran recitation. On February 26 and March 6, the accused allegedly inappropriately touched the minor and asked him to remove his pants. The boy informed his parents about the incident, following which a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case was registered at the Sir J.J. Marg police station.
The police arrested the 80-year-old accused after obtaining permission from the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). The accused was presented before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
