With just a few days left for the civic body elections in Gujarat, the BJP has released its list of star campaigners who will seek votes for the candidates fielded by the party. Notably, the list includes Union minister Smriti Irani.
BJP’s star campaigners
The list of star campaigners released by the saffron party has 20 names. Apart from Smriti Irani, other senior BJP leaders who will campaign for the party candidates include Gujarat BJP president CR Patil, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, Union ministers of state Parshottam Rupala and Mansukh Mandaviya, and Alpesh Thakor.
Smriti Irani was elected as a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat after the BJP came to power in the Centre. Later, she fought the Lok Sabha election from Amethi in 2019 and defeated Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
After winning the Lok Sabha election, she resigned from the Rajya Sabha.
AAP also announced the list
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is also contesting for the first time in the local body elections scheduled later this month in Gujarat.
The party is already claiming that if it gets success in Gujarat then it will replicate the Delhi model of development. The party has also released a list of star campaigners. The list includes Delhi’s deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, MP Sanjay Singh as well as 12 MLAs of Delhi who will come to Gujarat and try to woo the voters.
