Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) administration has not taken any action against a doctor of Ophthalmology department for engaging in an alleged ‘unethical practice’ by running a clinical store and conducting FFA test there. The AIIMS administration had received a written complaint against Dr Samender Kumar of the department.
As per the complaint, Dr Kumar was running a clinical store in Saket Nagar in the name of his wife Dr Anjali and was also conducting FFA Test there. Medicines and contact lenses were provided through the clinical store. The complainant had demanded a departmental inquiry.
A couple of years ago FFA facility was not available at AIIMS, which now has been made available, according to AIIMS officials. A Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA) is a diagnostic procedure that examines the blood circulation in the eye’s retina and choroid.
Dr Samender Kumar talking to Free Press, the complaint was made against him a couple of years ago and since the complainant was not made by any patient, the AIIMS administration did not take it seriously as generally patients always happen to be the main victim. “So if any patient has any problem, they should complain and not any third person. Complaint was made when the FFA test was not available at AIIMS. Now, it is available. It is a tactic to malign my image,” the doctor said.
