Team Ahmedabad Buzz: The 112 year old Alembic Group , based in Vadodara has stepped up its humanitarian effort and announced an allocation of Rs. 10 crore towards the Covid 19 pandemic. In this difficult time it thanks its team at the pharmaceutical operations, who continue to deliver vital medicines. It also acknowledges it frontline workers at the Bhailal Amin General Hospital , who have been working tirelessly to provide medical care to all in the community.
Some of the areas where the contribution will be made include:
Direct Contribution of Rs. 1 crore to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund, Gujarat
Direct Contribution of Rs. 10 lacs to Vadodara Municipal Corporation
Direct Contribution of Rs 15 lacs to the Sikkim Government.
Nutritious meals to homeless migrant workers in 15 relief camps in Vadodara.
Free Covid-19 testing for select Doctors in India
Providing Temporary housing for migrant workers
Supplying life-saving medicines to the government of India
Waiver of School fees for those adversely affected.

Talking about the commitment, The Chairman of Alembic group, Mr. Chirayu Amin said, “Community service is in the DNA of the Alembic Group since our inception in 1907. We have been doing social and community services long before CSR were even discussed at India Inc.”
Mr. Pranav Amin, Managing Director further elaborated and explained that global pandemic of this scale needs efforts at multiple levels and that’s what we are trying to do to the best of our ability.

The 112 year old Alembic Group of Companies comprises of companies such as Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Alembic Real Estate, Paushak Limited, Shreno Limited. It also comprises of non-profit charitable trusts such as Bhailal Amin General Hospital, Alembic Group of Schools, Alembic CSR Foundation and some many others.
DIRECT FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION:
The Alembic Group has contributed an amount of Rs. 1crore towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The cheque of Rs. 1 crore was handed over to the C.M Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani by Pranav & Shaunak Amin, M.D’s of Alembic Pharmaceuticals on Tuesday at Gandhinagar.
Along with that, the Group has also contributed an amount of Rs. 15lakhs to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of Sikkim Relief . The amount will be handed over to Sikkim State officials by Alembic Group.
On homefront, Alembic Group has made a direct contribution of Rs. 10 lakhs to Vadodara Municipal Corporation in Mayors Fund for providing food to needy people in this difficult time. The CSR wing is already providing support to 15 orphanages and old age homes run by various arms of Government of Gujarat. This contribution is in addition to those support.
FREE COVID 19 TEST
The company understands the importance of early detection of this disease. Realising the difficulty of the large population to undergo such expensive tests, we are committing up to 10,000 tests for detection of COVID 19 across the Country absolutely free of cost. The free test will be conducted on the basis of prescription by the doctors. While the pharma major is committed to benefit the underprivileged under the free COVID 19 test.
Waiver of School Fees :
The trust has decided to support the parents of some of its schools who may face economic hardship due to the lockdown.
Alembic Vidyalaya and Utkarsh Vidyalaya are Gujarat Medium schools of the Alembic Group that cater to the working class. If parents are unable to pay the fee for Quarter 4 of the current academic year they may apply for a 100% waiver of Quarter 4 fees and the trustees would consider the same. Parents of Tejas Vidyalaya who are impacted by the current lockdown could apply for up to 50% fee waiver for quarter 4 of the current year.
This decision will support 6000 families who are studying in the schools run by the Alembic Group.
Talking to Media, the trustee of Alembic Group of Schools, Mrs. Barkha Amin said, “it’s our responsibility to ensure that the education of a child should not suffer due to the economic crisis created due to the lockdown. We care deeply for our students and are constantly thinking of their well-being.
SUPPLY OF MEDICINES
The 112 year old Alembic Pharma is supporting the nation on the request of Government of Gujarat. The company is making critical drugs available on priority to the Government free of cost and some of them at discounted prices.
EMPLOYEE CONTRIBUTION
The employees of the Alembic Group have decided to make a voluntary donation towards the relief fund. The employees believe that along with the organization it is also their responsibility to give this contribution, they would voluntary donate anywhere between 1 day to 5 days of their basic salary.
FACILITY TO MIGRANT WORKERS
The company has also opened up some of its Hostel facilities for migrant workers who need facilities for housing during the lockdown. The facilities include lodging and boarding at the Panelav plant, located at Halol, in Panchmahals.
