An Air India Boeing Dreamliner flight with 242 passengers bound for London crashed near Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Thursday, sending thick plumes of smoke across the airport vicinity.
According to initial reports, the passenger jet crashed shortly after initiating takeoff, around the Meghani Area adjacent to the airport. Emergency response teams were quickly mobilised, with three fire engines dispatched to control the fire and secure the site.
3 NDRF teams each from Vadodara and Surat rushed to the crash site.
